Here is our structure:
National Committee
The National Committee is the primary decision-making body of the YGA. It is made up of two voting representatives from each affiliated state federation of Young Greens chapters.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is elected by the state delegations at our bi-annual national convention. It is composed of a Chair, 4 Regional Vice-Chairs, a Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer, and a Secretary and an Assistant Secretary. The Executive Committee is responsible for carrying out the policies of the National Committee.
Local and Campus Chapters
The building blocks of the YGA are the local and campus chapters made up of Young Greens. A chapter can be formed around any local area, including cities, counties, neighborhoods and universities. Chapters formed at universities will continue to be called Campus Greens. Any three YGA members can form a chapter, which can include anyone interested in the Green Revolution.
State Federations
A group of thirty YGA members residing within a state can form a State Federation. The State organization is responsible for forming new chapters, building its membership, electing its representatives to the National Committee and sending a delegation to the national convention.
The National Convention
The National Convention is held every odd-numbered year. Delegations are based on the number of votes gained for the Green Party from each state in the previous election, as well as the State's leadership and National Committee Representatives. At the convention, we elect our Executive Committee, Caucus and Committee Chairs, amend and adopt platforms, and decide on courses of action. The YGA uses its fundraising capabilities to ensure that every state is able to send its delegation to the National Convention so that everyone has a say in the organization.
Alumni Association
The YGA also includes an organization for Young Greens who are no longer eligible to participate directly due to their age. The Alumni Association assists the YGA with training, fundraising, and event/campaign coordination.
Youth Caucus
The YGA membership also functions as the youth caucus to the GPUS, giving us a vote at GPUS national conventions and steering committee representation. There is a committee which deals only with youth caucus issues, and our membership votes via mail and at the national convention.
Regions
The YGA has broken the U.S. into four distinct regions, each represented on the Executive Committee by a Regional Vice-Chair. The Regional Vice-Chair is responsible for organizing an annual regional conference for all the states in that region, as well as coordinating national campaigns within the region.
